The Welwyn Garden City Horticultural Society is a friendly, welcoming club for all gardeners: young, old, expert and beginner. We aim to promote and encourage the skill, knowledge and art of gardening through a wide range of activities, mainly consisting of speaker meetings and garden visits. We also try to provide help, information and advice to members through our newsletters, web site and contact between members.
The focal activity is the programme of monthly speaker meetings that are available to members for an annual subscription of £20, and open to guests and visitors for £5 on-the-door. In the spring and summer, visits to gardens and nurseries are arranged for members.

Roger Gibbons – Butterflies of Britain and Europe
Roger divides his time between Hatfield and the south of France where he
helps local conservation groups. His in-depth knowledge of butterflies enables his talk to
focus on their often-surprising behaviour, which is still not fullyunderstood, as well as how
to make gardens butterfly-friendly.
